Some owners are aware of the need to weigh guinea pigs regularly, since weight loss can be one of the first indicators of illness. It is useful to keep a record of such weights on designated charts, to allow you to reliably track their weight and note any losses or gains.

However, Laura feels that owners and guinea pigs can benefit greatly from having a fully comprehensive set of notes about the animals lives. The Cavy Record Folders that Laura offers include pages designed for you to keep notes about:-

* the guinea pigs age, breed, colour and gender;
* adoption/purchase details and certificates;
* housing and bedding details, including who each guinea pig lives with;
* details about the diet, including hay, dry food and fresh fruits and vegetables;
* worming records, and grooming records (nail clipping, ear cleans, baths, haircuts);
* weight tracking;
* health checks and medical history;
* chronic medical conditions and treatment.

Keeping such notes in individual folders for each piggie not only helps you keep track of simply how your piggies are and what they have had done recently, but it provides you with all the information a veterinarian or rodentologist could need to know. Some of the information you give in Cavy Record Folders could potentially aid a diagnosis to an illness that might otherwise be difficult to understand, and it could even improve your own knowledge and the wellbeing of your animals. 

Another benefit is that if you ever go away on holiday and leave your guinea pigs at a piggie boarding facility or with a petsitter, you can hand the Folders over so the petsitter knows exactly how your guineas are looked after, who they live with, what they need to be fed and so on.

The folders are of a very high quality, wire-bound with a clear glossy cover, and ready to use. They should last your guinea pig around one year. Each folder is designed for one pig only.

Each purchase comes with two leaflets. One explains how to get the most out of your record folders, and the other contains some general tips on why certain information can help a vet and/or rodentologist diagnose your piggies.
